The following represents the wanderings of a college mind...
---
Alright... this is one time I will ask any and everyone who reads this to give me their input...

I've been having these headaches on and off for the past two years. For months at a time, my head is fine. But then they'll surge again and I'll go another 6 months or so with headaches that last about 5 days... to the point that I can do nothing but lie in a dark silent room to make the pain bareable.
I watch what I eat, I watch when I sleep, I watch my emotional levels (stress, etc.). I've tried every pain killer out there... and I have nothing that will even ease this pain.

The question I pose is... what gives you a headache? How do you handle it? What helps you? Anything you can offer I appreciate...

As for everything else... it's fine. You talk too much!

Stress gives me headaches, the high pitched whine of some computers when something isn't right with them does, umm i can't think of much else that gives me a headache...except when I had a sinus headache one week (and a half) that kept me awake and nothing was working for it. In fact a teacher told me to go home because I looked that bad. The doctors tried a painkiller that moved the pain from one part of my head to another...which got me a bit mad especially since I had to sit through getting stuck with a needle. Every once and awhile I get that tension in my head but I haven't had anything as bad since then...generally when I do I start drinking juice etc... ..to finally figure out that it was my sinuses they gave me a cat scan...had to scan my head to find out my sinuses were in that bad of shape...they gave me some kind of nasal spray and this terribly powerful pain killer that had me near comatose after I took it. Anyways for other headaches head rubs, quiet, distraction (a really good book), 7-up (which has become my family's placebo for just about everything), and fresh air helps me... hope it helps some...wish I'd seen this sooner so I could've said something quicker...

Headaches are usually caused by either enlarging or the constricting of blood vessels in the brain. Usually the former... that is why caffiene is used in some migraine medications, and also why you get a headache from caffiene withdrawl. Sounds to me like you are getting "cluster" headaches. I would highly suggest you talk with your doctor about these. There are many home remedies for normal headaches, but these don't sound like your garden-variety headache. Good luck hon, I've been there. Even wrote and submitted a poem titled "Migraine" not long ago.
